JUBOVSKI!
Glenfinnan Church, 8 pm

The Jubovski Ensemble will sweep you off your feet and
into a world where nothing matters but melody and rhythm.
Drawing influences and tunes from all over (mainly) Central
Europe, Jubovski remind us of Haydn's gypsy roots.

Charles Mutter will also treat us to the pinnacle of Central
European solo violin writing....

Sunday 10/05

JAMIE'S HAYDN CLUB
Shielbridge Hall, Acharacle, 5 pm

Jamie MacDougall and the Edinburgh Quartet set out to prove
Haydn's status as a true Scot. Charming settings of Robert
Burns are placed alongside the finest of Haydn's 83 string
quartets. A true homecoming feast awaits at Jamie's Club
with plenty of nourishment for body and soul.

Specially for the occasion, the Club is also hosting an
exhibition of work by Room 13 studios in Fort William,
Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Soweto, Mmulakgoro and Cape Town,
previously seen at the National Gallery in Edinburgh.

QUARTETTO LIRICO
Glenfinnan Church, 8 pm

Which composer managed, in his tragically short life, both
an Ivor Novello award for popular song and mastery of the
fiendlishly complex twelve-tone system? The answer is
Matyas Seiber, and the Edinburgh Quartet will show you why
he should be your new favourite composer!

Also includes music by your existing favourite composers,
Beethoven and Mendelssohn.

SQUARE ON THE HIPPOPOTAMUS
Glenfinnan Church, 8 pm

Uniquely entertaining recital exploring the world of the trumpet
from the time of Pythagoras to the present day. Through some
of the most beautiful music from the classical repertoire, a series
of anecdotes and his 19 trumpets, Mark unravels the mystery of
trumpet playing from the harmonic series to the piccolo trumpet.

ENGLISH AND SCOTTISH ROSES
Salen Hotel, 7.15 pm

Pre-dinner recital featuring Robin Holloway's meltingly nostalgic
Sonata for Solo Violin and Elgar's magnificent Violin Sonata,
written in the aftermath of the First World War.
Charles Mutter (violin) and Jill Morton (piano).

FESTIVAL DINNER AND TALK
Prince's House Hotel, Glenfinnan, 7 pm

Festival Dinner in good company by award-winning chef Kieron
Kelly and his team at Glenfinnan's Prince's House Hotel.

Followed by after-dinner talk and photo presentation by Arnold
Bax biographer Lewis Foreman who, in preparation for Friday's
Last Night concert, will share with us his wealth of knowledge
about a composer who returned to the West Highlands year
on year for inspiration, peace and quiet.

Friday 15/05

BAX: THE SOUND OF ARISAIG
Glenfinnan Church, 8 pm

Arisaig and Morar were some of composer Arnold Bax's favourite
locations, and local people still remember him. This year's final
concert is a tribute to Bax's music presented by the Frank,
Dickinson and Wakeford Trio and featuring his Fantasy Sonata
for Viola and Harp as well as his Elegaic Trio alongside music by
Debussy and Telemann, and by Rachmaninov who considered
Bax "the greatest living composer".
