Noye's Fludde Glenfinnan Church, 6.30 pm
Richard Strivens (bass-baritone), Mary Carewe (mezzo soprano) and James Naughtie (voice) with the Loch Shiel Festival Orchestra and Children’s Choir
Conductor: Richard Balcombe, Presenter: Sue Perkins, Director: Christopher Josey
Based on a 15th century Mystery Play, Benjamin Britten’s musical drama is a work of extraordinary passion and ingenuity. It is scored for a handful of professional musicians and two professional singers. All other parts are taken by children or amateurs.
Our production is a unique collaboration between a range of Lochaber’s amateur music groups and some of Britain’s most acclaimed artists. The animal choir is made up of primary school children from all parts of the region, all wearing head-dresses made by artists, both local and from many other parts of the world. The artists have been asked to highlight animals which are particularly at risk in their own area and their work will undoubtedly ensure much visual excitement.
Conductor Sue Perkins, winner of BBC2’s 2008 Maestro competition, will be working with Musical Director Charles Mutter and Production Director Christopher Josey to make sure Noah’s Ark survives the flood in spectacular fashion.
